Luggage wear and tear…

The suitcase was a little worse for wear, but it was the only large suitcase I had for a week’s travel…Nashville to Atlanta…on to Savannah…Savannah to Atlanta and on to Chicago. It was the Savannah leg that was the last leg!

Have you ever had it happen or seen it happen? You patiently waiting for your luggage and as all the bags comes down the conveyor belt in the baggage claim area of the airport….intently looking for your bag…..seeing all sorts of baggage. Black, red, beige suitcases are some of the most popular colors….then come the spinners, the roller boards, the golf clubs bag carriers….the name brands…Tumi, Samsonite, Coach,Louis-Vuitton, Hartmann…colorful luggage…polka dots, stripes and tapestry.

As you wait…you observe the creative ways people choose to recognize their luggage…ribbons, fingernail polish on the steal part of the luggage, color tape on the sides of the luggage, color bands that wrap around the luggage. I personally have none of those…in hindsight the color bands might have been a good purchase!

Watching the luggage swing around the belt and all of the sudden you see a sock…a nightie…undies loose and falling out of a suitcase…you feel so badly for the person that has just seen their personals strewn across the conveyor belt….suddenly you are thinking….that looks like my nightie….oh my goodness…my stuff…how fast can you pick it up as everyone is looking…laughing…and waiting to see who they belong too…

It’s my nightmare…a disaster waiting to happen…

Travel tip: Check your luggage before leaving on a trip…be sure that all the zippers zip…if you see a tear you need to let go…that piece of luggage…you love so!
