Let freedom ring…

Do any of us really appreciate the freedom that we have? Are we instilling in our children the importance of freedom of speech, the National Anthem, Pledge of Allegiance and our right to vote? This weekend we celebrate the founding of our country. When I was in high school, our family went to Europe and Israel…I will never forget how I felt when I returned to the United States…I was home and there was nothing better. The trip was wonderful, but there was no place like home…the USA.

Two weeks ago, I was in an airport on my way to a gate when I observed the heart breaking sight of a fallen soldier’s casket being unloaded from a Delta plane in a solemn ceremony. Travelers stopped out of respect to observe the event. This soldier gave his/her life for someone else to have the freedom that we enjoy every day…this soldier believed in freedom as well as protecting our nation. I am thankful that we have men and women who feel called to protect our rights and freedoms.

This Fourth of July weekend enjoy a parade, fly our flag, recite the pledge and sing a song with your children or grandchildren. If we don’t teach them about their freedoms we will see these beliefs fade before our eyes. Happy Fourth of July weekend…let your freedom ring!
