When I am in my church service there is a part of the service after our silent confession in which we sing the following verse, which has always been meaningful to me…as a special song of reflection:
Jesus, remember me, when You come into Your kingdom. Jesus, remember me, when You come into Your kingdom.
This week, I was with a special woman who worked for me when I had my cookie company. She had been asked to speak about a text in Luke 23 about the crucifixion and relate it personally to present day. She wanted some help in what she should talk about so we opened the Bible and read the scripture she had been given, Luke 23: 39-43. This text was about the two criminals that hung next to Jesus on the cross. One of the criminals hurled abuses at Jesus while the second accepted his own sins and yet recognized that Jesus had done nothing wrong. This man made but one request to our Savior… “Jesus, remember me when You come in Your Kingdom!” Christ’s response, “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in Paradise.”
I was blown away…as many times as I have read about the crucifixion I hadn’t remembered this text. I taught her the song to sing and we talked about the wonderful message of salvation for any that believe….from this day forward singing this song will be even more meaningful….He is Risen….rejoice in the day!
